Russia on Wednesday opposed a new UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution on the humanitarian situation in Syria proposed by sides that attempt to politicize the situation in the country.
Russia’s UN Ambassador, Vitaly Churkin, said that it is premature for the UNSC to adopt a resolution on the humanitarian condition in Syria, pointing out that the current pursuits of some states seeking for the adoption of such a resolution are meant to politicize the situation.
"Hard, pragmatic and purposeful work is necessary to resolve specific humanitarian issues, but not though a council resolution, which will almost certainly aim to politicize the problem," RT quoted Churkin as saying.
"We are against moving to a resolution now in the Security Council…We believe that it’s a wrong move. It’s not a good time to have any resolution discussed in the Security Council," the Russian Diplomat added
