Informed sources in Amman, said the Jordanian authority ordered the intelligence and other security forces to start a campaign to arrest Iraqi’s visiting and residents in Jordan. The arrest order specifying only the Iraqi Shi’a and the religious ones in particular. These orders are firm and clear from the interior ministry who received it from the prime minister directly and according to the sources, approved by King Abdullah personally.
According to these orders, that were issued three weeks ago, hundreds of university lecturers, merchants and students were arrested and some of them even put into single cells. This was secret until revealed by an Iraqi lecturer who was arrested and released, he confirmed that Jordanian security forces interrogated and tortured him to gain information.
This lecturer to al-Nahraine net that the location he was taken to wasn’t a police building, but looked like intelligence quarter – he was hearing the voices of other tortured Iraqi’s.
Also Nahraine Net was informed that a well known, Iraqi religious scholar was also arrested by the Jordanian security forces and is still under their custody since three weeks ago, Ayatollah Sayed Muhammad Ali al-Tabatabaie who was in Jordan to visit the shrine of Jafar al-Tayar. This scholar family confirmed that Ayatollah is suffering from several previous heart attacks and they are worried about his medical condition – they haven’t received any new from him since his arrival from Jordan three weeks ago.
The Iraqi living in Jordan, complained about the Iraqi embassy official who is ignoring and denying the allegation of the Iraqi arrest despite receiving the information from the families. They also demanded from the Iraqi foreign ministry for immediate action to force the Jordanian government to release the Iraqi’s who are in the custody only because they’re Shi’a.
